Cell Phone Confusion-- Advice Sought

Has anyone ever gotten a new phone that won't charge?  I was psyched to activate my XV 6800 this weekend (and have internet access all the time =) but the phone won't charge for some reason.  I don't know if it's the phone, charger or battery but have a new battery on the way.  If this has happened to anyone, how did you resolve it?  The phone

Ive had friends who have had that issue...usually was a defective phone (or charger) Where did you get it? Is it under warranty or replaceable?

It's a refurbished phone-- I sent itfor replacement today. Strangely enough my old phone that I activated is now not working either because it needs some sort of software update that takes 30 minutes in the Verizon store. Weird cell phone week or what?
