I know things have been really hard lately and I've been wishing there was something I could do to make it better because I've been feeling really helpless seeing you so sad, especially because I've been there and I should be able to offer you advice like you've always been able to do for me...

So. I would like it very much if you would come to dinner with me. You can order overly expensive foods my treat and there's a little gift for you somewhere during the evening and I have procured Jack and a bit of yarn for us to play with when we get home.
What do you say?

And Stewart kicked me out to grade papers. *laughs* No, I'm kidding. Well, he does have papers to grade but I've been planning this so they're irrelevant. Unless I get a bad grade.
