Tangled = So Cute

I proclaim that Tangled is the cutest movie of the year, nay, of recent memory. It's also fun and pretty...! I am so glad they got Alan Menkin doing the music for this one, I think it was just what they needed to get the feeling back into the princess movie genre. That's definitely what was missing from The Princess and The Frog. It was a good ( Read more... )

If you want you can come down to San Jose and I'll see it with you! I can't get enough~.

I also had the same issue but the animation will surprise you, it's a lot more detailed and "alive" and just beautiful than a Dreamworks film. They really did a good job of conveying the charm of 2D animation through CGI. However if your friends already have a strong view against it, it'll be hard to convince them...

San Jose's a little too far away for me~ lol

Well, I think Dreamworks have somewhat improved in that department with How To Train Your Dragon, but I'm glad to hear that they did a good job with Tangled.

You know something though, I've figured that it's not the CGI or the lack of 2D that I have a problem with Disney's movies, it's the stories. When I watch movies from the Disney Renaissance I think "Oh wow, this movie is surprisingly adult in nature" but it's still enjoyable for children. I don't really see that with their movies anymore. It's still cute, but it just doesn't resonate as much.

lol Sorry I went off on a tangent, but I've been trying to pinpoint why Disney just can't seem to make a hit recently. Anyways, I think I'll just have to kidnap someone and make them watch it with me haha...

Well if you are ever desperate! I am already aching to see Tangled again lol.

I don't know about the whole story and I don't want to spoil you, but aside from a couple things from the original fairytale that they left out (the thorns/blinding and the knocking Rapunzel up) I was actually pleasantly surprised about how they decided to keep some relatively gruesome things in the movie which I did compare to the Disney Renaissance films.

Haha it's ok we can discuss all you want. I actually agree with you about that, it needs something somewhat dark to even out all the sugary sweetness of being a disney fairytale lol.
