His Dark Materials

I just spent the last 15 minutes sobbing my way through the end of The Amber Spyglass. What a wonderful, thought-provoking, emotion-draining, beautiful way to end the trilogy. I do believe that Lyra is one of my favorite characters ever written. To watch her grow, learn, struggle, love, fight, dream, hope... And Will... I have to stop or I'll start ( Read more... )

Now I REALLY need to re-read my books. Chibi helped me find e-books to d/l right before my computer crashed last month, so now I get to do it all over again!

Those books were such a delight to read. My poor copies are nice and battered!

I'm so glad that you enjoyed one of the fantasy "greats" that doesn't get enough credit.

It's an absolutely gorgeous trilogy, isn't it? I'm enthralled with the ending, too. Everything fits and flows so well with these books.

I'm SO glad that you've enjoyed it, Liz!<3

True, but none of my friends are overly christian/catholic, so I don't think it's too much of a problem. Then again, I'm more anti-organized religion than most... Oh well. People who know me know what I like to read/recommend.

Are these the sort of kid books you were reading? Cause if you like them, I'm bound to like them too. =) OH! I bought my own copy of "Bet Me". LOVE that book.

I highly recommend you read them. They're incredibly deep for young adult literature and focus on topics that tend to be outside the relm of lit for that age group. They're written by Philip Pullman and you should start w/ The Golden Compass.

I just reread Bet Me and fell in love with Cal and Min all over again. It's really one of the best romance novels ever written. :)
