[Tom is outside Howl's Moving Castle, moving his wand in a wide arc, casting the snow aside in a large circle around him. Slowly... carefully... he is obviously fixated on his work, making sure it is perfect.

Once he has created a circle large enough, he steps out of the circle, flicking his wand carefully.]

I like ice skating. But I might be too heavy for the ice to hold.

[An arched eyebrow, but no reaction otherwise.]

I could reinforce it with magic to prevent such a thing.

Thanks, partner. [She's trying out amiable phrases. Lucky you!]

Quite welcome.

[This woman is an oddity.]

Ice skating sounds great! [This cannot possibly end well, for so many reasons.]

Well.

[And he gestures to the newly formed ice rink.]

Where are you, though?

Home.

My work has always involved experimenting on souls. What is it?

I've already spoken to Cameron about this matter, but in my world, there is a method on splitting souls using magic. It is Dark magic, forbidden magic, and I had been studying it in my world, academically, before I was brought here.

I was simply curious on what you had done to put a soul into a bottle. Whether or not the process was similar.

Nothing is free, of course... an exchange of knowledge and perhaps a magical demonstration on my part? To make it worth your while.

There's nothing against manipulation and modification of souls in my world - but humans tend to be overly concerned about useless aspects of things they can't control; I'm not surprised they'd try to forbid it.

But if you have something new to show, I don't mind explaining the procedure.

The suppression of knowledge is something that is rather popular in my world... asking about the splitting of a soul results in a special form of social shunning.

Of course. I'm something of a genius, in my world. [There is no hint of boasting -- it's simply a fact.] I could perform any feat of magic for you. Transfiguration, hexes, curses... what did you have in mind?

[It doesn't take a genius to deduce where he is. Sherlock shows up some time later, fingers stuffed in his pockets, bescarfed, coat battering at his knees in the wind as he walks.

He gives Tom a wink when he sees him. Whoops, they're meeting in person, this means the stakes are raised, doesn't it? Sherlock isn't even sure he knows the game, but it's better than sitting around the house all day (boring) or continuing to scavenge through useless ruins (tedious, pointless.)]

Tom.

[Tom almost looks surprised. Almost. Of all of the people to visit him... well, much less without telling him, he was not expecting Sherlock Holmes. But something inside Tom grins with excitement, because of all the people residing in Adstringendum, Sherlock Holmes is one of the few that Tom does not consider a pointless idiot.

The stakes have been raised. He's brave, for knowing that Tom is at least partially dangerous, he has to give him that. How interesting.

He simply smiles politely, his wand now in his pocket, completely and utterly harmless.]

Mist -- sorry, Sherlock.

I read the books.

[He quirks a half smile, pulling his hands out of his pockets in order to help himself balance a little better as he steps towards the edge of the ice. No sense falling on his nose- though he doesn't have skates.]

The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Very...

[Searching for the word.]

...spirited.

[The tiniest quirk of a true smile.]

I've read them all.

[Outside of torturing children and killing small animals, there wasn't much to do in the orphanage besides read. And, well... any British child has read The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

He does not move to offer help, but he does remove his wand from his pocket to levitate a pair of makeshift skates -- perfectly honed metal and leather straps to tie to your shoes -- towards the man.]

Were they to your liking?

[She gazes at him for a moment. He doesn't strike her as the spur of the moment "let's do something fun everyone can enjoy" sort of individual. She knows those types all things considered. But perhaps she is wrong about him. She doesn't know him well enough to really judge him as such. After all, no one would ever suspect Haruka-papa for her perverted tendencies.]

What made you decide to do this?

It appeared people in this city needed some piece of fun.

That and I'm bored.
