I require several glass vials and live mice.

For the mice, I would prefer specimens that can be bred with minimal amounts of defects.

Any suggestions?

totally not evil, brb making horcruxes, chrysopoeia requires gourmet meals, knowledge is power, tom can make friends, snakes get along with me, potion making is a past-time, simply an academic, the heir of slytherin

Oddly specific requests.

I have specific goals in mind.

[Tom is at a table in his room. On the table, in a large glass cage, is a beautiful black snake, who is watching Tom curiously. Tom himself appears to be reading out of a book.]

I am testing snake venom. I require mice to feed the snake and vials to contain the venom itself.

[This doesn't sound good.]

I doubt it would be difficult to find mice here. As far as defects, you'd likely have to check them individually yourself.

[C'mon, he's totally innocent, look at this face.]

I figured as much, but I thought I would ask just in case anyone else has been collecting them for some nefarious purpose.

[The slightest hint of teasing.]

As for the vials?

[Hitsugaya's been warned about him, but mice aren't people. Not yet anyway. Might be a good idea to stick around long enough to find out what the mice are for and to control where Riddle gets his resources. Unfortunately, the most likely place for Riddle to start is Kurotsuchi. At the very least, it isn't suspicious for Hitsugaya to leave the man out of any list considering their history.]

Unohana-taichou may have what you need. Or any of the alchemists.

[It's lucky that it isn't video, because Tom's fingers twitch at the mention of Unohana. The woman unnerves him; he won't be asking her for a thing.]

It's been noted, thank you.

Rats are more useful.

Of course, I have both items.

They're being used for food and I'm not entirely sure she's large enough to warrant a rat. Perhaps a small one...

[He seems to contemplate this for a moment.]

Could I borrow them?

The young are smaller. Additionally, they're less capable of fighting back - no chance of any damage to your snake if she's not a good hunter.

I don't care about giving rodents - they can replace their population quickly enough - but why should I give you glassware?

You know there are easier to catch, and far more delicious things, to eat here than mice?

It isn't for me.

I have a snake in my possession that requires food.

What are the mice for?

To feed my snake.

But snakes don't care about imperfections. They're part of how nature weeds them out. Why do you want to breed them?

You would be surprised at how much a snake cares about whether or not their meal is perfect.

[Rather mildly.]

... I want to try something.
