Ideally and ordinarily, I(I would love to say 'we' but let me speak for myself here) should be fearing the Unknown: Wild untamed animals, unpredictable weather, freak accidents, forces of nature beyond our control- earthquakes and avalanches and tsunamis.Of course, The future is unknown, uncertain and that's no reason to fear it so I'm not counting ( Read more... )

Correction - We didn't back off the mussel-men for you fine ladies' sake. We backed off only coz the Shark wasn't gonna be game for a bash up with 20 boneheaded meat chunks. And it isn't the kebabs I refer to.

It was never very liberal, but I don't remember it being this illiberal either.

Ok, I have to say something here, just to offer a perspective, nothing else :-). I am not surprised they bossed you off. I bought most of the iftar this Ramadan from MM Road. And, on some occasions the food would be over. This frustrated me one evening when I had organized a customary iftar for about 20 people and went to buy food from there, and most of the food got over. And, I saw many people standing in front of those stalls chomping off happily. I know my complaint would not have made any difference (because those stall chaps are there to sell), but I asked some of the owners I knew, to at least give preference to Rozedaars first.
