------
He'd spent the past few days -no, the past week and some spare change- in misery. After having encountered Mao, he was just more miserable and guilty about the things that he'd done. And to think that he'd wanted to tell her everything... he could hardly recall anything without blaming himself for something or other.

But it would be better that way, right? No more hiding, no more lies... and she's know who he really was and whether or not she wanted to keep him after that. He should have told her from the very start, shouldn't have waited until now.

Kakashi felt so lost now. After Mao finally chose to leave him alone, he'd managed to drag himself to the garage. Of course, Rikku wasn't there, but he spent the night to make himself feel even a little better; it hardly did any good. Then, he'd spent some time at the junk yard, and he just wandered around hoping that he wouldn't be found. Eventually he'd headed to the river, making his way north, going upstream.

It was really chilly. Seemed that the Purgatorium weather was much much colder now. He hoped that Rikku had at least gone home to see the warm clothes that Medea had granted them.

He'd arrived at a decent place; the river, although rather cold, was surprisingly clean this far up, and there weren't many people in the area--the perfect place to bathe, especially since he wasn't particularly keen on showing his face to many people. He'd already removed all his clothing, tested the water, prayed that his balls wouldn't freeze over, and wandered into the water until it was up to his hips.

Pretty darn cold... didn't help that it was pretty early in the morning. But he was having a hard time thinking straight and taking care of himself; nothing really seemed to matter anymore. He didn't have any motivation or spirit left. Actually, he wouldn't be surprised if he was fired by ShinRa at this point... thankfully he'd seen that there'd be some job openings for an upcoming strip club.

He just kept thinking about different things that eventually all linked back to one person: Rikku.

Where could she be? Was she finally safe now? Was she really looking for him? Would she really find him?

Was Jenova right?
