Summary: Finally, Kakashi convinces Rikku to trust him enough that they could talk things out and try to work together against Jenova. Will he be able to get through to her directly, or will he have to resort to attempting to meet Jenova after all?
------
Kakashi was nearly perspiring despite the extremely cold weather conditions of the lower level; he'd been sitting at the terminal for quite a while, awaiting every single answer that his mujan would type out for him. If there was a way to avoid going and confronting Jenova himself, it would be a lot better, wouldn't it? There would be less risk if he could get through to Rikku without having to meet that alien being. To be honest, though, a part of him really wanted to see Jenova again, if only to have a little talk.
Teamwork was everything. Sure, he hadn't acted that way in the past few weeks, and that was his biggest mistake. He'd tried to take it all on by himself after Rikku disappeared; in the process, he'd only worsened things for the both of them and eventually ran away from his problems. That, and he thought that he was taking it all on for the both of them, which probably was his biggest mistake--but it was also the same mistake that Rikku herself was making.
The irony. Maybe they really were perfect for each other.
As soon as she said that she needed to see his face, his heart nearly leapt out of his chest. No more avoiding each other. No more 'arguing' on journals. They'd get to talk about it face-to-face, and hopefully he could find out what it was exactly that Jenova was doing to her. Anything to stop her pain and misery... So he chicken-pecked his response on the keys before grabbing his cloak and putting it on, virtually jetting his way to the clock tower...
... although he knew to expect her there already waiting for him.
Because it was a trademark of his to almost always be late--not that he considered this a good trademark, but it was one of those things that made him who he was to her. She was punctual, he wasn't, but he knew that she could always expect him to be there, no matter what. Sure enough, the blonde was already there waiting for him; upon seeing her, his eyes softened with his longing for her.
No more hiding, right? She said that she was going to talk about it. He hoped that she was going to tell him everything that was on her mind, just as he'd shared everything with her.
A silent prayer to something or someone went out from his mind, and he was just hoping for the right answer.
