Summary: Kurogane and Fai are both more than a bit confused about how they feel about each other. Kurogane escapes to have some time

He'd been on edge all day, and Fay was starting to get sick of it. Even worse, Kurogane hadn't said a word about anything or acted any different than normal so Fay was beginning to think the whole thing was in his head. So they'd looked at each other. It didn't matter.

What did matter was that he could not stop thinking of the ninja whenever they were apart. Had it been like this before Purgatory? He couldn't remember. It wasn't as if they ever had been apart then. He'd missed Kurogane before he'd arrived in Purgatory but these feelings were something new... or at least something that had taken a while to develop.

He needed to take his mind of this. Ironically, the best distraction in the house was Kurogane, who was on the roof, and the second best was alcohol, which always went down best with comfortable company. He carefully opened the window leading up onto the roof from the attic, bottles of sake and glasses carefully balanced in his arms.

"Kuropiipii~!"

He sat up with a shot to find the reason for his latest retreat scrambling onto the roof, armed with a stupid grin and liquor. "Don't kill yourself," he growled, shifting in case he needed to move quickly to catch the blond. The upper level may have been better off than the lower, but he'd nearly fallen off a few times before, slipping on a loose tile.
It was almost a relief to see the blond wasn't avoiding him. After that moment in the kitchen he hadn't really spoken to Fay, things had been tense. "Is the kid asleep?" he asked, eyes on the magician as he approached.

Carefully balancing the bottles and glasses on the tiles of the roof, Fay rolled his eyes at Kurogane's obvious worry and then used his arms to push himself onto the roof as well. "Don't worry, Kurotan~! And I think so, he might still be awake. He's been having trouble sleeping lately." Moving to sit next to his favourite ninja, Fay grinned at him and offered him a glass. "I thought Kuro-daddy might enjoy a drink while he's sulking up here." He reached for the bottle of sake and poured himself a drink before offering the bottle to Kurogane. "Hmm~?"

Kurogane noticed the ease with which Fay lifted himself onto the roof. He was stupid to worry about the blond's safety as much as he did, but that's just the way he was. He grunted, taking the offered glass, but it was hard to pull his eyes off the magician. His hair shone silver in the moonlight, his ponytail just touching the base of his neck. In this light he looked almost non-human, with pale hair and skin. It was...distracting.
His thoughts returned to reality as fast as they had left, "I'm not sulking!" he shot, glaring at the blond and taking the bottle. He poured himself a long drink and said, "I just came up here to think."
