I found the 5th movie to be good but lacking. I didn't feel the depth of emotion portrayed by the characters in the book. Also, it felt very rushed to me.
I agree there was plenty in the book that was redundant and unnecessary but I feel the film being a little longer would have greatly benefitted my viewing. Also, those last 20 minutes or so are vastly different from the book and that was dissapointing.
I saw it with a large group on the 11th and we all enjoyed it, there were just a lot of displeased comments too.
I thought it was the best one of the five so far. While there were many differences in how things happened, it still had the same end result, thus ultimately telling the exact story of the book...I was surprised at some of the changes, but did not feel they were unnecessary...unlike movie 3 were there were multiple eliminations from the movie that should have been included because of their importance to the plot....I'm seeing it in IMAX 3D this weekend...I'm super excited. The book was needlessly lengthy, but I think she has so much back story about this world that she has created that maybe she went a little overboard with book 5...however I must admit I liked the Quidditch in book five and st. mungos and was a little sad that we didn't get to see it in this movie...but whatever, still miles above the rest in my opinion.
oh, St. Mungos isn't in the movie? I'm surprised, only because they seemed to be building up Neville's part so much in the 4th movie. Maybe that director would have included it. but its the same screenwriter, is it not? blah.
