PrimeTime Institute Seminar: The Amish
Learn about the Amish at a free PrimeTime Institute presentation 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6 in S-29/30. Joe Wittmer, PhD., distinguished professor emeritus, University of Florida, will give a slide show presentation, “The Gentle People: An Inside View of Amish Life.”
In addition to a general overview, Wittmer said he'll focus "quite a bit on the school shooting tragedy in Pennsylvania and how the Amish were able to forgive the killer, help the family financially, and attend the killer’s funeral." Wittmer was raised through age 16 as a member of the Old Order horse and buggy Amish faith. Today, he is associate director of the National Committee for Amish Religious Freedom and has been very active advocating on behalf of the Amish to preserve their way of life.
Wittmer's presentation is free and open to the general public, but please RSVP to xxx-xxxx if you plan to come. Wittmer will autograph copies of his book for those who wish to purchase a copy. He is selling his book at cost ($6).
