Saving it "for good"

I'm a saver. I save the best bite for last, save my favorite part of a project, save my favorite tv shows on the dvr until I can watch them all by myself with no one interrupting me. I am not so good at saving money, and the virginity ship sailed in 1990, but other than those two instances, I like to save things.

On the one hand, it sounds nice, ( Read more... )

Where you save I have learned to use...I buy myself special smelly soap and open them all up and use them for whatever mood. I have been through the saving, my mom saved for good and when she would go to use it, it would be rotten or Not good anymore!!! So use it or lose it!!!! I remember all of the disappointment in finding it not what it once was!!!

...was a saver. Any nice thing she got as a gift got put away for a special occasion. Well, guess what! There were no special occasions. We used to tease her that when she died, we were going to get her a double wide casket and bury her in all the shit she was "Saving for good". We didn't get that far, but we did go through her crap after she kicked, and threw out all the slips yellowed with age and still wrapped in tissue, and the run-proof pair of stockings my grandfather gave her for Christmas the year they were introduced (1963, I beieve), and the wool sweater with the tags still on it that was riddled with moth holes, ad infinitum. The 20 year old bottles of cologne that smelled like a bad case of the wine-shits (or "pungent runs" as we kids used to call it) and taking the remaining 1/2 tube of lipstick she bought for her wedding in 1959 to the funeral home for the mortician to us on her in 1994 ( ... )

I inherited a handmade quilt from a great-aunt when she was giving stuff out. It was in pristine condition. I had a choice to make - fold it up and leave it "safe" in a closet somewhere, where it could keep the title "heirloom" and I'd never see it... or use it? I took a second look at it. It didn't have any fancy shapes, or "perfect" decorations; just richly textured cloth and a casual play of patterns and colors. This was a blanket meant to be cuddled, not hung on a wall as a piece of art. So out it came. Turns out it's quite warm and cozy ( ... )

I'm a saver (hoarder :p ) too. I have all kinds of "special" beads and craft supplies I'm saving for something special.

But yeah, don't wait. Pull out the good china and eat sandwhiches on it. Use the "guest" soaps in the cute little shapes. Wear whatever makes you comfortable and happy. I agree, the good times are now. And tonight I'm gonna do something with some of those beads!
