Author's Notes: What if Goku had never received that knock on the head?
Chichi slumped down the ground, too exhausted to move any further. She had no real idea of how long they had been running this time, the days and the nights seemed blurred. The only real measure of time that mattered was the full moon, as that was when the real monster emerged.
It was on a full moon that they had had to flee, the remnants of a once proud and warrior-like people. Her father, the strongest of all, had died covering their escape, his death only delaying the monster a little. They managed to find refuge, for a little while, in a neighbouring kingdom, but all too soon that had been overrun too. It seemed that everywhere they went, sooner or later the monster would come. They hadn’t seen any new people for ages.
She looked up at the moon, and shivered. It was full again, and in the distance she could hear the hunting cry of the creature, and knew that tonight would be her last.
