LJ is clearly cooler; they have a goat as a mascot, what can myspace claim - lily allen... pah goat wins everytime...
The start of the year always feels rubbish, because it's cold and dark etc. but at least you had ice-cream, that sounds fairly fabulous to me! I don't know what I'm doing with my life and I finish my phd (in theory) in september... but I don't let it panic me too much, it will be good for all of us I'm sure of it... and you can trust me on this one, I'm almost a doctor...
how close are you to finishing in reality though? :p It does seem that when people start PhDs they say "yeah, I'll get part of it written in the 1st year, then get all my experiments done by the end of the 2nd year, so the 3rd year will just be writing up! yeah!"
Don't think it really happens like that though. Most people in their third year haven't started writing anything yet :\
Am still doing many, many experiments have got to finish off two major ones w/in next month or so if all goes well, but these have lots of extra bits attached to them that will take a while to sort through/analyze and then have another experiment that shouldn't take tooooooooo long to finish, so hopefully all lab work will be done by sept. but v. much doubt will have writing anywhere near done!! Not as clever as you and haven't written anything et... though have "plans"
thought better of your comment about bits of dead morag eh? The guy who commented is the boy I'm seducing... I suspect he's trying to flirt...
