This was brilliant. A gut-wrenching character piece and so beautifully written. :)

Ouch. Usually when I see a story about bipolar disorder I get very cynical because I've read too many fics by people don't do any sort of research at all and wind up writing hurty but completely inaccurate portrayals and it disgusts me. When I saw this I knew that you would do it justice, though, and I was right.

I love everything about this story, from the format to the lack of a happy ending. I love how we knew what exactly was afflicting Dean, but no one in the story really did, like the most painful dramatic irony. And Dean's thought processes are perfectly written, you show it's not just sadness, but he's pretty much delusional with his brain twisting everything people do into proof they hate him and that he's worthless.

Also! I love all your pop culture references in this that make it seem so much more real, like Dean watching The Biggest Loser and hoping Friends gets cancelled (lol!).

Yaay, thank you so much! I put waaaay too much effort into getting the right TV shows in the right season for each time frame. Because that kind of stuff is apparently really important xD

Oh, but where do you find all those bipolar fics? *grabby hands* I only ever found one and it was so scary close to the concept I had for this one, that I immediately backbuttoned out of there. But yeah, I suppose it's a topic that's very easy to get wrong, especially if the author goes with the (boring) now I'm happy, now I'm sad kind of BP.

The only other good one I can remember is this one which you should totally read if you haven't already. The ones that scarred me with their terribleness was one that was a Dean/Cas AU and basically just gave Dean the disorder as a side thing to make the fic more romantic? Like, "no, I can't be with you, I'm too angsty!" It really rubbed me the wrong way. And then there was another awful one from South Park fandom, haha.

Well, yes, mood disorders are quite essential to every good relationship. xD

Gripping, tragic, brutal... That Dean because of his lifestyle is unable to ask for help - and his closest family unable to really give it to him. Oh, my heart!

Fantastic but oh so hard to read. And thanks for not just wiping the plate clean with an easy ending.

Thank you so much :)

I hate easy endings. Hurty endings are so much more intriguing and also, well, at this point, I don't buy that too many of their issues could ever be really resolved.

Oh, I had an epilogue in there, at one point. Nothing to really fix anything, basically just postS7!boys sitting under the stars after the Leviathans are gone and Dean is finally at least able to admit that something might not entirely be right with him, but then Purgatory happened and I didn't really want to go off canon just for the epilogue. But yeah, safe to say S6 and 7 probably didn't help Dean's issues...

Thank you so much for the lovely comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
