Fanfic meme: Day 3
3: For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?
For Pokémon, my favourites are the supporting canon characters. Lance, mostly, but Lieutenant Surge and Koga have quickly become two of my other favourites too. Koga I already knew would be, but Lieutenant Surge was an honest surprise. In Harry Potter, I was writing a limited number of characters; I enjoyed writing Bill, even though he was difficult because we get so little characterisation in canon, and at the point I was writing before the final book. Ginny was also fun, if only because I rarely write from the perspective of female characters, and she turned out easier than I expected.
NCIS was literally only from Tony’s perspective and I was using dialogue direct from the show for the other characters, so Tony, I guess. Yu Yu Hakusho was, again, only from the perspective of Hiei, and was again a ficlet of a scene from the show, in order to try and explain some wtf characterisation in that particular arc. So I couldn’t really say for sure. Naruto is definitely Kakashi, since he’s one of the more interesting characters in the show, but Gai was incredibly fun as well.
Stargate Atlantis I had a thing for writing two specific minor characters, Peter Grodin and Sergeant Bates, but Zelenka was very fun to write too. At that point I was putting too much detail into their minor actions, though, because I could see it so well in my head and was trying to over-describe all the little details, so mostly I cringe when I think of most other characters in those stories. For Rurouni Kenshin, my favourite was hands-down Hiko Seijuro, who was the subject for both the fics I’ve written.
