Title: Lover
Rating: PG
Subject: Josh/Donna
Timeframe: Fairly early in the Santos administration
Author's Note: Not to be taken seriously, just a fun little thing "suggested" by
kiss_me_cassie, but I'm sure this is not what she had in mind, since I'm basically cheating. (No, it's not smut. Maybe next time.)
“Donna!”
“Sweetheart, what have I told you about shouting my name when you walk though the door?”
“I wasn’t listening.”
“Well, inamorato, I don’t work for you anymore. I’m not at your beck and call, and it’s not proper. I don’t shout your name when I get home, do I?”
“But you usually get home before I do.”
“That’s beside the point, paramour.”
“Why are you talking funny?”
“I’m not…So?”
“So what?”
“What did you want? When you shouted?”
“Oh. I’m hungry. Do we have anything to eat?”
“Lover, you didn’t eat?”
“No.”
“What kind of assistant do you have that doesn’t make sure you eat something from time to time before you laps into a coma?”
“Well obviously not as good as you were.”
“You’re quite the wooer, are you? There’s some leftover Chinese in the fridge.”
“Don’t you want something? I though we could eat…”
“I already ate, steady.”
“Did we get my tux back from the cleaners for the State Dinner next week?”
“Yes, fellow, it’s all taken care of.”
“And you’re going with me?”
“You want me to be your date, your escort, your companion?”
“What the hell is the matter with you?”
“What should I call you?”
“Huh?”
“What should I call you?”
“What’s wrong with ‘Josh’?”
“I mean how should I refer to you. Boyfriend? Suitor? Admirer? I assume gentleman caller, gentleman friend, main man, young man, and old man are all out.”
“You've been reading the thesaurus again, haven't you?”
“Perusing the Lexicon? Yes.”
“You should…not do that.”
“Josh, this is the serious thing. If you don’t decide, I’m going to have to decide for you. Now what’ll it be? Beau? Flame? Truelove? Man?”
“I’m going to tell the First Lady to give you more work to do.”
“Alright, lover it is.”
“Wow.”
“You thought I was going to pick ‘steady,’ or something didn’t you? See, I can be nice. You really don’t give me enough credit, Lover. Now finish your dinner, and we can see if you live up to your name.”
