Betta fish are gorgeous and easy, but they definitely seem more like decoration than a pet.

I'd almost want to suggest a bird but ngl, they can be so obnoxious, messy, and loud. But sometimes cockatiels can be pretty cute and quiet, and they're definitely more socialble than a lizard.

Get a spider monkey!

Or, convince Alec that somehow some perfectly normal part of the frog/lizard/crab you want is actually crazy-technical and really nifty.

I've decided on three oriental fire belly toads. They're cute, cheap and easy. Alec has agreed providing he doesn't have to do anything. He's a little grumpy now, we'll probably go to the pet store tomorrow!
Name ideas?

Play more Pokemon! I wanted to suggest salamanders, but toads seem cool too. Good luck!
