For some reason, "grampa" doesn't seem quite right now that they're no longer alive. I'm not sure why that is. As tempted as I am to let this post degenerate into a ramble devoted entirely to discussing navelgazing (as opposed to pure navelgazing itself), I'm gonna stay on topic here, because this has been clattering around in my head for a week

odd how we think about similar things. I was considering my last, remaining grand -- a woman who has been more stern (and faintly feared) great aunt than grandparent. I was the "smart" one, never the pretty one (yeah, it still stings) and not generally invited for weekends over or flown hither or yon for visits ... (thither and thon...?) We don't agree on much (except legalization of drugs, which I'm still surprised and vaguely puzzled by)...

How to connect... I don't have a clue. But I feel sort of guilty and a little sad that the situation is there.
