Violet had a really good first impression of Suki. She wants to get to know her a lot better. She found her to be interesting, likable and just... there were good vibes all round! She'll definitely seek out Suki to talk to again. Also for those lessons.

Violet wasn't so sure what to do with Zidane calling her pretty, 'cause in canon most of the people who call her pretty are scary rapists. However, he also commented on her talent, which is what non-skeevy people do, so she was alright with that, just a little embarrassed. She was fascinated by his stories of his leader, though!

Hi mom.

Uh, okay. First of all, Violet... does not really consider Ash to be family in the same way she does Kieran, nor in the way she considers Vimes to be her family if I ever get around to essaying on that. However, she doesn't really consider either of them to be her friends, whereas Ash she very much does -- not an equal, but definitely a friend. She likes him. A lot. He's smart and fun to talk to and willing to work with her, and he explains things to her and teaches her and is in general very good company. I can't really see them not getting along under any circumstances, let alone the ones they met under. He is all mentor-ly! Violet loev mentor.

Also he sort of rapidly became a huge emotional crutch orz. With the Vimes thing, and with Sophie leaving -- especially with Sophie leaving, because that was her other emotional crutch and am I sensing a pattern with your characters here? Anyway, yes. Ash makes Violet feel very safe and taken care of. Not in a parental way, or maybe it is a bit in a parental way, but she doesn't see ( ... )

First impressions for Paco? Assuming he did come back and help out after getting cleaned up.

Violet liked Paco in general. She hasn't really met anyone like him outside of camp -- her canon is full of skeevy, complex pussies, and that includes the good guys. So, she finds him sort of refreshing, but also confusing.

Please do! Anyway. Oh uncle.

Well, first of all, Violet does not really look at Kieran as an uncle. More of a big brother. A really annoying big brother who picks on her and is obnoxious and doesn't approve of her taste in men. In some ways she looks up to him, and in some ways she just does not understand him. However, his opinions matter to her -- not that she'll change her mind just because he disagrees with her, but she will closely examine her thinking. This is sort of huge, because one of the main themes I see in ASoUE is how things go wrong because characters respond to situations based entirely on prejudice and history, not analytically or with an open mind. I could seriously write an essay on this alone, and how the educated characters are not necessarily the thinking characters, but. Yeah, suffice it to say, I don't really consider Violet to be a thinking character in canon -- she's a reacting character, partly because she never has time to be anything else. But Kieran makes her think, and gives her room to decide. It doesn ( ... )

Reverse~

The very last thing Kieran ever wanted to do was care about Violet. Sadly for him, she's probably the third person he cares about the most. He wishes he could destroy everything that's hurt her and make sure she's safe. At the same time he believes that one of the things most likely to hurt her is himself. So Kieran will never ever admit to Violet that he cares. He doesn't want her to trust him and will walk away from her the first chance he gets. Unlike with Ash or Vimes Kieran will probably never take a second chance with Violet because he's already hurt her and fears so badly doing it again. So, he's stuck in a weird limbo with her in which while he's around he'll do everything he can for her and be somewhat normal but will never consider her a friend and trust. :/

He seemed likable, if not overly bright. Violet respects that he can seem so completely normal and still do what he does. She'd like to have him as a friend.
