She's not wrong, but I don't feel like this is new. :-/ Sorry Farrah. I dont think you have anything to freak out yet. Yes, our freedom has been in jeopardy for quite a while...with free speech zones, the patriot act, and the president doing things without consulting anyone...but, let's hope that this time is over. I wouldn't start freaking out unless John McCain became president...and even if he was, this closed torture and mass arrest wouldn't exist. And really? What can we do? I've been listening for 15 minutes and I still dont hear a solution. I hear fear mongering! She's doing what she's complaining about. No matter what...this will end to some extent come election day no matter who is elected. Sarah Palin is an idiot, but John McCain (the person we're actually electing) was a prisoner of war and is really REALLY against that sort of stuff.
Don't fret...I agree with Carlos...she has a lot of good points, but she is an alarmist.
P.S: Bush is an idiot and shouldn't be president, but he's not a malicious man. I just don't think he understands how to run a country. He isn't smart enough to be Hitler and foul enough to be Stalin.

You're right. His ineptitude has done more harm than good, but I was just saying I don't think it was out of maliciousness like the woman was hinting at. She made it seem like he was purposefully doing this. I just don't think he knows what he's doing.
You're a bright guy... I'm kind of surprised that you wouldn't watch on account of her being a feminist. The video doesn't deal with feminism. She makes a number of valid points, although I do think that some may be a little stretched. Either way, I think it's worth a viewing.

Feminism is a huge sign to me that they're probably irrational, which is not aided by the previous comments that's she's an alarmist. I don't have a problem with feminism, but I find that people who actually label themselves as such are more ofter often than not don't believe in the goal of gender equality but promote female superiority.
I got through 20 minutes now, but I need to hit the sack. Pretty much what I thought. She's full of it. Calling for the arrest of the president... come on. She harps on the ability to send troops anywhere like it's something special snuck into a recent law. The president has always had the ability to deploy troops without congressional approval.
Re: Tsk tskreelbigporterOctober 10 2008, 05:29:47 UTC
There's been a fine line between deploying troops anywhere and deploying them on U.S. soil. That's what the National Guard is for. There's no reason for an army battalion to be deployed on our lands unless there is some sort of eminent attack or a legitimate threat on social order. There is none, as far as I know of, and I've kept abreast of the news lately. Something is seriously wrong with this. And if you don't think it's happened, check the Army Times. They report it as calmly as calling the sky blue

Okay, I've been giving this some thought over the last couple of days and researching some of what she's said. As far as I can tell, this woman is not wrong on a lot of the points she makes

I guess the whole thing I've found hypocritical so far is she claims ordainary people should be taking radical action... BUT who's the one motivating this but her and those she wants to motivate and inform the "masses" that their liberties are beign taken. "Oh noes!" She's advocating a coup herself. Our government is still in place which by definition defies the fact that her "coup" exists.
WTF is up with her fifth point about? America is to establish no God? Have they? Extending what "theocaracy"? If she wants to talk about what the founding fathers wanted she should read their letters again that their goal was no to exlude faith from government, but removing government from their faith.
She may be scared but I think she really is reading so far into stuff it's absurd. Two months from now we will have a new president and I'll look back and chuckle at her.
There's an entire organization backing her called the My America Project, but if you listened to what she said you would know that. You can't have a revolution without a messenger

I listened to this. It pained me to do so, but I wanted to give my friends the benefit of the doubt here that it was a legitimately scary clip. Honestly, I think the Bush administration has taken a few too many liberties with the constitution here, but I'm really thinking this whole thing is very overreactive

It's an old adage and it may be cliché, but a someone hardly needs to be malicious to do harm.
