The State of Emergency

May 27, 2005 12:37

As the LBC has been in a state of emergency for a few days now, I've had a lot of exposure to more rain than I've ever experienced at one time.  I've decided that it has several benefits, as well as many drawbacks.  To review:

GOOD THINGS ABOUT ALL THE RAIN:

-It's making everything really green.  Greener than ever.

-We get to see people we know ( Read more... )

-I kind of like that as much technology as we have, we can still be so vulnerable to natural forces.

Me too, I love it.. the only thing we can do is stand and watch, and maybe thank god our houses are on hills. Old john Hamm coming down here to gawk at Fancys lake.. tsk.

firstly: LBC? (don't mind me, i don't get out much :P)
secondly: the rain is miserable, and putting a damper on fiddlehead season, literally. i went to pick in one spot, hadn't finished, came back not more than 24 hours later, and the patch was covered in 3 feet of water.
thirdly: i, too, am glad i live on a hill, and not on the banks of the 'Chi. water = HIGH!

that is all.

I'm sorry... LBC is local slang for Lunenburg County. The kids are striving to make it seem as prosperous and dramatic as the OC... I'd say the dramatic part is working out alright for them. Most of the evacuees are back home now from what I've heard, and the water levels are going down... now if we could only get some freakin' sun. I didn't know the Chi was affected really, though... and YAY FOR HILLS is my new motto.

Michelin is covered in tarps and has bukets of water everywhere. it's kinda cool. Have you seen the falls yet? They have trees in them! Not small trees either. I mean big old evergreen trees. Some places in Italy Cross are under 3 feet of water. This is impressive because it's inland.
I'm so glad I live on the ocean, it takes a lot to flood the Atlantic.

The falls... which ones? Across from Park View?

I'm glad I live on a hill. If the water were to get up as high as my house, a lot of people would be in a lot of trouble I'm afraid.

I have a picture of last years tug of war team. You look kind of zomped out.

1. Why do you have a picture of last year's tug-of-war team?

2. What does "zomped out" mean?
