I'm applying to spend most of next year in Guatemala, and they have a bunch of questions I have to answer in the application process.  Some of them  I think I can do alright on my own, but I'm having trouble coming up with answers to a few.  I know I might be thinking about it too hard and that's why I'm coming up with nothing... it's either that ( Read more... )

I want to go someplace and not teach English, which limits things. The Guatemala program sounds cool in that they'll teach me Spanish first and then I work, instead of trying to just go someplace where they figure I know how to communicate. And there's an environmental angle to this program too.

Also, the prospect of grad school in some ways sounds pretty good, but in some ways sounds restrictive to me at this stage - I'd like to be in school, but I don't know what I ultimately want to do, or what I even think I might want to ultimately do. It turns out I don't have any goals, except possibly this Guatemala thing.

what about family stresses? it's sort of along the same lines as 'disagreement within organizations' too...

stressful- moving to a different province to go to school, making new friends, meeting people from all different backgrounds, at first was scary, considering you came from a small almost rural town- expand on that ( ... )

wow I never even caught onto that...hmm, that is interesting, and kind of degrading to the people of that country when you think about it.
