HELP!

Okay, this is a really strange question... but has anyone here ever heard of putting notches/marks in one's bedpost to signify the different people you've been with/slept with? It's a line out of a Fall Out Boy song, but I SWEAR that I've read something where a character did that... like in the House of The Spirits or another Allende or Marquez

I'm a spanish/latin american and caribbean studies major, but it's not a latin american phenomenon. It's an american thing. I've heard of it before--it was in some movie I saw and i've seen it on different television shows. hope this helps!!

the more i thought about it, the more i think it IS from an allende book. and the only two i've read all the way through are house of the spirits and portrait in sepia. dont you with there was a ctrl + F function on books? haha. it would make finding certain things a helluva lot easier. good luck. lemme know when you find it.

I've heard of it too, it seems almost like it should have been a female....You haven't read 'Like Water For Chocolate' have you? I don't think it's in there..might be House of the Spirits...Esteban d'you think?

Oooh wait, what about Alba and the women in prison? I seem to remember them counting something...in a notebook? I've got to read that book again.
