Oh my goodness, I'm sorry to hear that. By your journal entries (where I know you) you're a very gentle and intellectual person. I'm sorry that this sort of barbarism has entered your realm. No idea on iphone data retrieval, but I wager apple knows something.

Thanks!

I'm pretty much non-violent myself, even if I do blow up planets and bigger things in my fiction :-)

Ah crap.

Sympathies. Hopefully the iPhone will sync when connected to a computer...

That's what I tried first of all, and the phone didn't wake at all. A trip to the Apple store is in order.

Thanks for the sympathies!

Sorry to hear about this altercation. I'm sure the Apple Store are used to people coming in with non-functioning beasts and asking about data retrieval. Surely the data is on some kind of removable circuit board that can be moved to a new machine or some kind of reader? Anything else would be quite stupid and much as I'm not an Apple/Mac fan they're not that stupid, surely?

Hope the b*ggers get the book thrown at them.

Thanks!

I hope the Genius Bar people like a bit of a challenge.

Ye gods: pleased to hear it wasn't more serious, though.

If there's evidence on that phone, won't the police be eager to help?

Thanks!

They're eager to see the results but don't seem equipped to do much about it themselves. They didn't even have a mac in the station.

That's horrible. I'm glad you weren't hurt worse, and I hope they catch the bastards.

Have you tried holding down the top button and the one on the front on the iPhone? You probably have, since that's step one in restarting a hung iPhone.

Thanks!

The front button doesn't seem to have as much travel as it did, which may be part of the problem. Apple store for me tomorrow probably.
