Last year was told I needed to be more assertive, ended up writing the idea off as assertive seemed to equal aggressive which I really didn't like. Just got this in a 'Priotity Learning Link' and want to delete the e-mail hence... note for me ( Read more... )

The one-sentence definition of assertive that I was told a few years ago, which seems in line with what you're talking about was "if you don't ask, you don't get". Key word: ask rather than demand, and key idea is that you are active rather than passive.

Yeah I am not so good at the active rather than passive approach, I've also realised my default behaviour when faced with problems is often passive aggressive...
