I always seem to come up with a great line to something, anything... a poem, a story, etc, right before i go to bed. In the morning I can never remember it. I guess I need to start keeping something next to me for before I sleep. I need to start writing a bit again. Just a bit.

As far as I know, no scientific tests have ever been conducted to prove or refute this phenomenon. However, also being someone who considers himself a writer, it has been my experience that you are spot on with your observation. I'm not sure what it is about the limbo areas of your brain that cause you to have every light bulb of creative thought ignite at once just as you want to close your eyes. I've lost HUNDREDS of lines that way. Really pisses me off. I tried the writing it down before it's too late thing for a while too, but the next morning, I found that the desire to continue the thing which sparked me to want to write whatever I did down in the first place no longer clung to me. That REALLY pissed me off. So, I stopped altogether and just hoped that I could train myself to be inspired more quickly when I'm actually sitting in front of the computer ready to write. I've had some success in this, but I still haven't figured out how to turn my brain off right before bed so as to not waste a great line. Oh well. All good ( ... )
