pimping it out:
http://www.edge.org/q2006/q06_print.html Darling, we need more like this. We need tons of unspeakable, "dangerous" ideas and think! Highly recommended because it's one of those rare sites that is not only interesting, but goes beyond that to be thought

sounds like a fun Idea, i just have the uncanny ability to have good ideas, but vocalizing them tends to be insanely difficult.
should introduce you to a friend of mine, he's a phlilosophy major, so he is always thinking and discussing and arguing. :-P

Because Bill Maher is extremely libertarian, it's safe to assume most, if not all, of the audience had liberal tendencies.
Rj and I showed up right as it started (yay train trouble! or not), so we just walked towards the front. No one said anything to us. One guy complained to his companion "This guy [Rj] is too tall, I can't see behind him, and we were here first." Rj turned around, and asked if the guy wanted him to move, and the guy said no, he had no problems.
Spineless jerks.
Moving on, I find discussing the meaning of life, God, the differences between men and women, etc., boring. This is partly because I don't believe in any of the three. It's also just boring to discuss. Science and literature (and being catty) are so much more fun.

man, I can never notice when people do that. I'll go on being obnoxious (or w/e) until suddenly it dawns on me *something is horribly wrong*
Reminds me of a thing I read on somethingawful once... why the liberals would get PWND if we try to secede from the union. One point was that (stereotypically) the conservatives are the gun nuts and we're the pacifists. :-P
Though from my experience, hardcore libertarians are close to anarchists. The scary thing about the "liberal" (ie Democrat) mentality when it goes overboard is that yes, we want freedoms, but we also want the gvt to baby us and pick us up when we're down, cuddle us, smooch our skinned knee, and make the world a happy shiny place through legislature. I guess I'd be a libertarian-leaning liberal. (Gah, as if these words are precise at all.) The government should exist to protect the rights and civil liberties of the people, especially the minorities (not racial minorities specifically, but any minority trying to survive ( ... )
