so i was just watching a dating story and thinking about how when a girl and boy are best friends (or even just good friends) people automatically assume they're a couple. even if they say they aren't, people may still think that they are. but when i have a girlfriend i CANNOT seem to get people to "get it." they look right past it. they think ( Read more... )

one time I was filling out paperwork at a medical clinic I hadn't been to before, and there was a spot for "person to notify in case of emergency." I was living with a gf at the time, and so of course I put down her name and under relationship I put "partner." The intake person looks at it and goes "oh, so just a roommate then?" I glared at her and said "no, PART-NER." I think she got it then, but I'm still not sure.

People are stupid. And denial can be very deeply entrenched. *phbt*

reminds me of my ex-coworker who was jumping up and down saying "I'M GAY AND LIVING WITH MY GIRLFRIEND OF FIVE YEARS" and the straight guys there STILL didn't get it. whee!
