“How is he?” Yoochun looks up from the sofa to meet Jaejoong’s eyes; worries cloud his face as he sees his hyung closing the door behind him silently.
The elder opens his mouth but only lets out a soft sigh before walking towards Yoochun and settles himself across him. Yoochun watches as Jaejoong shakes his head.
“Hyung?”
“I’m worried about him, Yoochun-ah. Junsu..I’m really worried about him now. He’s always pushing himself more and more..I- I’m afraid he’s taking all of these bullshit more than he should.”
Yoochun is at loss of words. Both he and Jaejoong know how Junsu is. He might seem like the most optimistic one among them, continue radiating warmth and happiness everywhere he goes, but they know him better. Lately, the youngest tends to isolate himself in his apartment; preferring to write and write, to compose beautiful melodies to contain his sorrows. He seems to have trouble sleeping too; and with his tight schedules and rehearsals, Yoochun knows his lover isn’t taking care of himself very well, and that breaks his heart.
“Yoochun?” Jaejoong’s voice breaks his trance.
“I have to meet my sister now, will you guys be okay?” Yoochun smiles a little at Jaejoong’s motherly tone. Some things never change, he thinks.
He simply nods, and that earns him a look from the older man.
“You’re not talking now? Don’t go emo on me now Yoochun-ah, you have to take care of Junsu.”
“We’ll be fine hyung, don’t worry. Go now or you’re gonna be late.”
Jaejoong looks as if he wants to say something but he simply stands up and grabs his jacket.
“He took a sleeping pill just now, so he should be asleep for some time. You, go and get some sleep too, okay?”
Half an hour later Yoochun finds himself staring at the coffee maker, waiting for it to produce yet another cup of coffee for him since Jaejoong left. His eyes remain fixed on the white machine but his mind is occupied with Junsu.
~flashback~
“Junsu-yah, are you okay?” Yoochun asks, looking at his lover who is standing in front of the mirror, fixing his hair as they are getting ready for a press conference. The younger seems so lifeless; his usually bright eyes are dull.
“I’m okay, Chunnie. Don’t worry.”
“No, you’re not. Now tell me Su, what’s wrong now?” Junsu can deceive everyone else with his fake smiles, but it hurts Yoochun to see those smiles when he knows that something inside Junsu is killing him.
“I told you, I’m fine. Everything is-“
“Not fine, Junsu. You-“
“I don’t know! What else do you want me to say? I’m fine Chun, I’m trying to be! Cant you see how hard it is for me?!” Suddenly Junsu snaps, and there were tears pooling in his eyes.
Before Yoochun could say anything, there was a soft knock on the door. Both men turn to see Jaejoong looking at them, but saying nothing.
~flashback ends~
Nursing his fresh mug of coffee, Yoochun enters the master bedroom silently, his socked feet padding soundlessly on the fluffy carpet. Putting his mug on the nightstand, he sits lightly on the bed, gazing at his lover’s sleeping form. Yoochun frowns at the restless expression on Junsu’s face even though the man is sleeping. He brings his hand to cup Junsu’s cheek lovingly; thumb tracing its soft contour.
Junsu stirs lightly and opens his eyes.
“Yoochunnie?” he mumbles sleepily.
“Hi baby. Did I wake you up?”
Junsu catches Yoochun’s hand on his cheek with his own and shakes his head gently, a small smile gracing his features.
“I’m sorry,” he says silently.
Yoochun smiles as Junsu’s thumb caresses the back of his hand.
“I don’t mean to snap at you like that. I’m just too stressed out lately..”
“It’s okay Su. We all do, at some point. I’m sorry I couldn’t do anything to ease your worry..”
“Having you with me is enough.”
Yoochun lets out a silent laugh and lightly pinches the tip of his lover’s nose.
“Aigoo, since when have you become so cheesy. It’s supposed to be me.”
Before those soft lips even have the chance to form a pout, Yoochun leans down to brush his own softly to Junsu’s.
“I’m always here for you,” he mumbles between their kiss, and feels Junsu smiles against his lips.
“Chunnie?”
Yoochun pulls away to look into those brown eyes again; his heart soars as he sees the mirth returning.
“Lie next to me?”
Yoochun doesn’t need to be told twice as Junsu shuffles to make space for him and he finds himself spooning Junsu, their bodies tucked warmly under the comforter.
Peaceful silence cocooning them for a while and Yoochun wonders if Junsu has gone back to sleep when he hears the other calls his name softly.
“Chunnie, do you think we can make it?”
“I want to make you feel better,” Yoochun speaks as he runs his fingers through Junsu’s soft, dark locks. “And as much as I want to Su, I can’t lie and tell you that everything is gonna be fine in the end, because I don’t know that myself,” he pauses as Junsu hums to show that he’s listening.
“But baby, if there’s one thing that I can be sure of, is that no matter how things will turn out to be, I promise-“ he guides Junsu’s face towards him- “that at least you will find me always by your side. That, I can promise you, Su.”
Yoochun watches a beautiful smile blooms across Junsu’s face and knows instantly that those are the smiles that he is living for.
“That’s more than enough,” Junsu says as he kisses Yoochun lightly before making himself comfortable in Yoochun’s arms once again. “Thank you.”
“Sleep, baby.” Yoochun slowly hums a peaceful melody as sleep eventually engulfs the room once more.
