Junsu takes a deep breath to calm himself as he stands in front of the closed door. He smoothes his styled hair and pastes a smile on his face as he softly knocks twice. Without waiting for an answer, he opens the door and is greeted with the now-familiar dim lightning of the music room where Yoochun spends most of his time after that accident almost three years ago. The mere thought of the said accident tugs Junsu’s heartstrings but he forces himself to wear the smile as he looks for Yoochun.

“Chun? Are you sleeping?” Junsu asks softly as he approaches his husband. Yoochun has his back facing Junsu as he sits on his wheelchair by the large window. It is Yoochun’s favorite spot; he would sit there early in the morning, sipping his coffee while watching Seoul rise to live. As the day goes by, he would move around the house, to the bathroom, the kitchen, the living room but when the evening approaches, Junsu would find Yoochun there again, looking through the window glass longingly at something that he misses so dearly. Junsu would be lying if he says the look on Yoochun’s face doesn’t break his heart as his paralyzed husband turned to face him.

“Hey,” Yoochun says; a sad smile on his face. Junsu bends to plant a kiss on Yoochun’s cheek as he kneels and takes Yoochun’s hands in his.

“Are you cold, Chunnie? I can get the temperature up if you want. You’ve been sitting here all day long,” he says affectionately; rubbing Yoochun’s slightly cold hands between his own to warm them. Yoochun shakes his head as he looks at Junsu; with eyes filled with so much love that Junsu’s heart hurts.

“Are you hungry? Would you like me to-“

“I’m fine Su. I’m perfectly okay here. I’ll warm up the dinner if I’m hungry okay? Don’t worry,” Yoochun replies; amused at his spouse concern. Really, he may be paralyzes from waist down but he can still functions around the house. It has been three years and he has grown familiar moving around on his wheelchair.

“I’m not,” the shorter man says; a pout forming on his lips that Yoochun would love to kiss them away, but he stops himself.

“Chun-ah, I’m going out..and..is it okay for you to be alone?” Junsu asks; his eyes meeting Yoochun’s. The look in those tadpole eyes kills Yoochun; it is as if Junsu is begging him to ask him to stay. To let him know that Yoochun needs him now more than anyone else does.

‘But I cant, I can’t tie him to me. I’m just a burden to him. He’s still so young; having a good for nothing husband like me will just give him so much trouble. But I love him so much..’

Junsu’s heart breaks as he sees another fake smile on Yoochun’s face. “Silly you! Of course I’ll be fine. Run along, you don’t want to be late for..” Yoochun’s voice trails off, as he couldn’t bring himself to say something that both of them already know, somehow.

Yoochun place a tender kiss on Junsu’s cheek; his lips lingering a little longer before he pulls away.

“Are you..gonna be home late, though?” he reluctantly asks; masking his sadness with a curiosity- a futile attempt on his part.

“N-no, not really,” Junsu stammers his answer. “I’m just hanging out with some..friends,” he says the last word slowly as if it would lessen Yoochun’s pain.

They just sit there in silence; each one is fighting with their own consciences. Junsu knows what he is doing is killing both of them slowly. To have an extra-marital affair with someone else is the last thing on his mind when he decided to marry Yoochun five years ago. He still loves Yoochun so much until now, but he doesn’t see where it is going for him anymore. If he is to be honest with himself; he couldn’t actually decides what still binds him to the man in front of him; is it love..or is it just pity?

Yoochun watches as Junsu fiddles with his marriage ring; their hands still warm around each others’. He loves Junsu so much since he first saw the man. Junsu is his life. He knows that he’s being selfish by having Junsu next to him after all these years. What else can he offer to the man? Nothing. He lost his job since the accident that cost him his legs, and that is the end of his life as he knew. The only person that keeps him alive is Junsu. He couldn’t let his sunshine go even when it kills him everytime he sees Junsu leaving at the door into the arms of another man. Yoochun would bear it, as long as he knows Junsu will always come back to him.

‘But just for how long anymore?’

Junsu shakes Yoochun’s hands slowly as he gets up to his feet.

“Yoochun-ah, I’ll get going now,” he says as he lets go of Yoochun’s hands. “Don’t wait up for me okay?”

Yoochun nods as he sees Junsu approaches the door, but the man stops midway and walks back to Yoochun.

Junsu bends down again; his lips against Yoochun’s own in a chaste kiss.

“I love you.”
