A Plethora of P's

It's been so long since I've posted that I'm gonna try and sum it all up here before I head to Sewanee this weekend. It was the sorta thing where I was waiting 'til I had something interesting to post about - then I had so much all at once that I didn't have time for any of it.

Liz....

Em's dog (we're roommates) is extremely suspicious of some types of human food we give her, courtesy of various types of meds...

She's suspicious of chunks of cheese, hotdogs, lunchmeat and peanut butter.

You can go a couple of routes... Get a pill-popper from the vet. It looks almost like a straw that you stick in the dog's mouth, and it basically forces them to swallow the pill. (It sounds much more violent than it is.) However, the dog (I don't know your dog's personality...) might not react too well.

The best method that I've come up with, is to grind the pill up and mix it with peanut butter. Then take glops of the peanut butter and stick it on the dog's nose. (S)he won't be able to do anything except lick the peanut butter (and the pill) off of her nose.

Hope this helps!

Thanks - we got a pill-popper today - so far we haven't had to use it, but we'll see what the evening brings.

I think the biggest problem was that the antibiotic pill she was on really does smell bad and, I assume, tastes bad, too. So she wouldn't eat anything that it was in 'cause of that. But she finished that one last night, so we'll see what happens. I'll keep the peanut butter trick in mind too. Thanks : )
