At some point I'm going to post about SETC, and possibly library stuff, but for now:
My little dog had to have some teeth pulled today. Apparantly it's not that uncommon for older dogs (she's 14) not to use all their teeth, and to especially not use the ones up front, and that can lead to the teeth themselves dying. My mom had noticed about a week ago that one of Murphy's front teeth didn't look right and took her in. The vet, who is very sweey and works well with both Murphy and Miso, said it looked like that tooth and maybe a couple others would have to come out. So she went back in today and had several pulled. It turned out her gums were infected and that if the teeth hadn't come out she probably would have gotten very sick fairly soon. So, while we all feel bad that Murphy is now rather snaggle-toothed, we're also glad that she's going to be healthier for it.
Poor little baby has been all woozie and out of it today and hasn't really eaten anything. I held her while my mom gave her her pain medicine tonight and caught a brief glimpse of the inside of her mouth. To be perfectly honest, I couldn't really see which teeth were gone, even though I know a lot of the front teeth ended up going. The thing is, those front teeth were so tiny that with the little bit of swelling she's got right now, she may not look any different.
Miso's also been very sweet to her today. They can antagonise each other to no end when they want to, but when one of them isn't feeling well, the other one can tell and is always a love.
