I’m sure there’s something more annoying than coming in to find out that someone turned off the machine that you deliberately left running an experiment overnight, but just now I’m having trouble thinking what it might be ( Read more... )

I hate that! Both items but especially the bit where everybody denies any and all knowledge of the error. Grrrr on your behalf!

That's so annoying!

With me it would usually be a power cut that kills something running overnight, so you only have the power company to blame. If I knew its someone's fault and they don't own up, then painful murder would be on my mind.

The first thing I learned when I did my student-teaching was to eat crow while it's fresh, as it just gets tougher with age.

Screwing up the experiment is a forgivable error. Not owning up to it is just cowardly... even worse if (or when) you find out who did it.
