Oh, that job situation sounds stressful - I'm sorry that's happening to you.
I just started a sock today, too! A big, thick one. Not with provisional casting on, though - some other cast on my friend just taught me. I didn't know provisional was used for socks.
Yes, falling down stairs hurts a lot. Did you slip on ice?
The sock pattern I'm using is from the "Twisted Sisters Sock Workbook", and it's a toe-up pattern that uses the provisional method. Since I've never made socks before, I have no idea how common the method is, and I'm instead just following the pattern blindly. :)
I actually managed to fall down our carpeted indoor stairs, rather than have the excuse of there being ice. Never underestimate the power of clumsiness!
Luckily, the bakery will be open again this week! Yay! I suppose I still should try brioche again, as I suspect they'll taste better when the yeast is working more effectively.
You know, I think you can get differently coloured needles, and it might help, but I didn't see any when I was at a local yarn store this Saturday. Theoretically, of course, people have done this for years, and I should be able to manage it too. I think I just need to get the knack of it through practice. I hope.
A new job might not be a bad thing, but I've enjoyed my time here (mostly) and I'd be sorry to have to start again after 10 years in one spot. Call me lazy.

The briochary closing is insult to injury. Consolations.

Looking for work sucks. :( I hope your source is wrong... unless you want a different job and just need a push.
