I remember, long ago, reading a column where David Bowie was admiringly described as someone who was constantly re-inventing himself. At the time, I wasn't terribly impressed. Surely, this wasn't as hard to do as all that? It's only later in life that I've developed a wistful appreciation for this particular knack
