1. The recent household routine has involved both of us having Monday off every other week. We usually celebrate the day by having breakfast at Culina. But this morning, Culina was inexplicably closed. Woe ( Read more... )

Well, it was about 8 C. I'm not sure what that translates to in American. :) But it's not really cold yet, just a hint of what's to come.

That'd be about 47F, considered sweater or light jacket weather down here... but it's not that much different than SF (we get about 11C in the mornings, maybe 17-18 afternoons currently).

re: #2
In general, do you think folks who play World of Warcraft are misanthropic?

How did I get to that, you ask?
I'll tell you, I say.

It's just that although we've had/I've overheard many conversations with you, I've never realized that you've a poor opinion re: humanity. Then I thought about a bunch of folks who I know play WoW and we're all in agreement that it's rare to find someone we like and respect (ooh, I know that sounds awful. I'm writing in extremes when often it's versions of grey, right?) ... it actually wasn't much of a leap to get to my question. But I've not been playing WoW a lot except for in seriously intense pulses, and I'm completely out of touch with most Wowers ... so I was curious as to your opinion.

The five things are connected in that you experience them.

I'm glad you're posting -- it's nice to hear from you. :) xo

Well, anyone who read 'general' chat and has a brain should be discouraged about people, I would think. :)

But (she says, trying to be more positive), I've actually met a number of people that I thought were quite cool in WoW as well. They were just in a vanishingly small minority, alas.

And yes, I'm afraid that my opinion of humanity isn't a particularly good one. I think we tend to low wattage, myopic self interest and that's not good for the long run. So any time that I see evidence that people may actually be able to see past their own toes, I'm both pleased and surprised. :)
