The grave read “Tsukino Usagi, 2896-1996.” The undertaker had probably seen stranger, after things had gone to hell if not before. The grave next to it also read “Tsukino Usagi,” but this “1978-1996.” No bodies, but that was not so uncommon these days.
There were others, more traditional: Chiba Mamoru, Mizuno Ami, Aino Minako, Hino Rei, Kino Makoto, Tomoe Hotaru, Meioh Setsuna.
Kou Seiya. Kou Taiki. Kou Yaten. These had the birthdates given in their fan club’s data book.
Kou Kakyuu. Tsukino Helios. They’d had no known surnames but presumably would have approved of these. They had question marks in place of date of birth, little as any of it mattered.
If only Chibiusa hadn’t stolen the Silver Crystal to bargain for Helios and Mamoru back. Hadn’t the brat learned her lesson? She quashed that thought. Usagi had barely held herself together. Chibiusa’d only been a little girl. Maybe Usagi would have lost anyway. The rest of the galaxy had and been destroyed or conquered.
There was a crash of thunder and she looked up to study the green lightning through red clouds in the scorched sky of Earth critically. A summons from Lady Galaxia.
She stood, bracelets jangling on her wrists. The leader of the Sailor Animates, once known as Sailor Uranus, brushed the dust off her knees and wasted no more time going to answer the call to her duty.
