I don't think I got more than a sentence into the prompt quote before my mind started supplying "In Life's life, for Life's sake..."

Exhausted and angry from being thwarted by the annoying young wizard who read the Book of Night with Moon, the Lone Power delayed some trains to give hundreds of people the sort of minor annoyance that might snowball to ruin their day.
“Excuse me? May I sit here?”
It wasn’t the familiar ‘Fairest and Fallen, greets and defiance’, nor was the girl a wizard, though she had obvious potential. He was wearing His most common human form, that of a young man with red hair, but most mortals were unconsciously avoiding the aura of smoldering malice He was giving off.
“Yes.”
He almost went back to His ambient brooding, but this girl had caught His attention and better to be concentrating on her than on the Moon Wizard (He of all beings knew the importance of names).
“Are you alright?” she asked. She had curly red hair and wide gray eyes and the Lone One wondered what He was going to do with or to her.
“I had an unsuccessful day at work,” He said. He couldn’t lie in the Speech, but He was very good at being understood how He wanted to be. “But my day could improve.” A quick eye over her accessories, expensively make but slightly damaged so no one would buy them from a good shop, led him to ask, “Do you happen to know any jewelers in Juuban?”
“My mother runs a shop, Osaka Jewelry. Were you looking for right now? I could take you there.” She blushed.
“If that isn’t any trouble.” He smiled disarmingly. What was deepest in the darkness in her heart? The longing for a boyfriend and a real, adult relationship. Seduction was easy with how charming and handsome He could be.
The Lone Power didn’t think ‘And it’s not as though I could fall in love in return’, or He’d have noticed that He couldn’t say that in the Speech. His name in the Book of Night with Moon, which describes all things, had changed. Somewhere, the Hesper laughed Her joy.
