“Naru-chan! Naru!”
Naru rubbed her eyes. It was Sunday, she was sure, so she didn’t have to get up for school.
Wait a second, that wasn’t her mother’s voice. In fact, her mother had said she’d be supervising the setup of a jewelry exhibition across town, so she’d leave early and not be back till late.
“Naru~!”
Naru opened her window and leaned on the sill. “You’ll be in horrible trouble if Mom catches you.”
Nephrite didn’t have the good grace to look bashful. “I saw her leave.”
“Okay, silly. I’ll be down in a minute. I can’t very well leave the house in this.” He seemed to only then notice she was still in her orange pajamas.
“It’s noon!”
She slammed the window.

“What first?”
“The water roller coaster! They just opened it.”
They sat down and he flinched slightly as she leaned on his shoulder.
“Oh, sorry. Does… does it still hurt?”
“No.” He saw her concerned look and sighed. “Not much.”
The ride started to move and he moved closer to her so she could hold onto him instead of the bar.
They were soaked when they stumbled off. He purloined them t-shirts from a nearby stall and she pretended he had paid. Honestly, he was a millionaire.

They opted for an early dinner so she would beat her mother home.
“So,” he began on a topic that had clearly been on his mind for awhile over chocolate parfaits, “your high school graduation is next week.”
“Yeah.” She wondered where he was going with this. He didn’t say anything for a long time, so she struggled to end the silence.
“And Usagi-chan and Mamoru-kun’s wedding is scheduled for three weeks from now. She’s old enough since her parents agreed to it. My mother never would--I mean, I’d have to wait till I was twenty--I mean, not that we--” Naru blushed furiously under her red hair.
She looked up at a hand on her knee to find Nephrite on one knee before her. “I can wait for however long.” He produced a little box and opened it. Her habits as a jeweler’s daughter instantly provided nephrite, set in white gold. “If you would consent to one wed me.”
He had no problem meeting her eyes. She had never seen him embarrassed and this was no exception.
“Oh yes!” she cried, throwing herself at him.

Far above them, the stars twinkled.
