Jade cast her arm over Obsidian, Aventurine, and Lorandite. “These are my generals. I need them.”
“Jade-san,” Obsidian cut in. “As your second-in-command…”
“Yes?”
“Maybe this is a chance. A chance to foster a relationship with Crystal Tokyo.” She looked at Chibiusa. “We can never be yours… but we could be both. Sometimes. We have common interests.”
“So I can tote you out for formal occasions?”
“Youma are trained to fight. Most things that you might want to fight that aren’t us, we probably agree with you.”
Aventurine decided to be quiet, since even Obsidian was having trouble holding both Chibiusa and Jade in her gaze.
Jade wavered. “I value your experience, Obsidian-san. You were half-raised in Crystal Tokyo for that reason. Nagare?”
Nagare started. She hadn’t expected to be asked her opinion by anyone and still had no idea who she belonged to. “I think… I think it’s kinda hard to be both. But it could be important. And…” she thought about the flame flickering on her lighter. “You can’t stop being a Sailor Senshi. It’s what you are.”
