I didn't want to be home alone and an Irish bar that I'd been eyeing for a while, Fado, had live music. $5 cover and a $5 beer, but after that my drinks were bought by an old farmer from IL that I talked w/ about GMO crops and Montsanto and then got a lift home from a younger guy who's a local ( Read more... )

I like Fado in Chicago. It's a HUGE place and they have good cider on tap.

I was surprised (a few years ago) to find that Fado had Strongbow cider on tap.

Recently I discovered that Elephant and Castle in the loop also has Strongbow on tap.

Fado is one of my favorite places, unfortunately it is a chain. Or fortunately, looking at it from my point of view.

I didn't know it was a chain until chatting w/ someone at the bar that night. Somehow I missed it in Chicago.

I would go to Heartland when I wanted hard cider on tap. They have Cider Jack. Mmm...

Eek! I don't go to bars that have cover unless I really want to hear the music.
Every St Patricks Day (or if not one particular day of the year) they have cover on most of the bars.

It's unusual at any other time thankfully. I'd rather pay a bit more for a decent pint of beer.

This weekend, we found that The White House is selling Fuller's Discovery which is one of the beer I tried at the festival. So now, that may become our Saturday night haunt.

I thought I did want to hear the music, and it wasn't bad, just not what I'd hoped for.

Oh that's different. Unlucky chucky. 5 bucks isn't bad if you expect to like the music :)

No, and as I did expect to like the music, I thought I was golden. Good thing I had someone buying me drinks. ;-)
