i wish we could go back to the beginning of the year where our schedules were so easy, before amanda joined crew. now i never know when i can have the lights on. usually monday and thursday when i get up is safe, except today amanda skipped her 8:30 class and i didn't realize she was still asleep until i was about to leave. and when i get back from ( Read more... )

my roommate and i use sleepmasks. i actually gave her a really nice one as a dorm-warming sort of gift, which is good because i stay up pater than she does. when she goes to bed she turns off most of the lights except for one, because both are really low and only together can we fully light the room.
for mornings... it's all a matter of blind positions, and she is somehow very silent and almost never wakes me up (if so it's only for 1 second and i fall right back asleep).

sleepmasks are an excellent idea. it's weird having two roommates, i kind of think differently. usually it's only the mornings that are any sort of problem, because at night we just turn most of the lights off and each have reading lights/i have string lights.
in the morning i usually wake up when my roommates get up but only for a few seconds, although since i have two i do wake up a lot more. for example one gets up at 7 to take a shower and then gets dressed and everything, while the other gets up ten minutes before her class starts, so there's a lot of door-opening in the morning. i think our door has gotten better but it's stil pretty squeaky. i guess what bothered me was that she left the light on while she wasn't even in the room, and it's pretty painfully bright if you've been sleeping.

yeah, leaving the light on is not ideal. but yeah, EVERY DOOR HERE needs oiling. you always know when someone is going to or leaving there room, and they are really loud when they latch as well; if you don't keep the handle turned when it closes it actually sounds like it's slamming.

i always misjudge the distance between the door and the wall when the room is dark so i end up slamming it slightly when i close it after coming in. anyway back to the sleep issue, i feel like dan is my roommate. she must have slept from 3a-4a, 8a-1p, and 4p-6p today. except dan would be asleep all that time.
