I find it really hard to even comprehend as to why someone would do this to another person. And your Dad and Luke would be going through a whole mixture of emotions right now. I hope they come out of it okay physically/emotionally and as frustrating as it is for you, because you care for them, they will make their decisions as to what to do about it in their own time.

I don't have anything else to add other than good luck. I hope your Dad and brother get through this okay ad move on. I understand the depression of not being able to protect yourself and your loved ones; it's humiliating and awful. I was utterly miserable for a week after I got beaten up by junkies on the 96 line, and had to work very hard not to feel helpless and useless as a result - the truth was that there were more of them than me, they were completely fucked-up junkies, I was half expecting to be stabbed with a needle, and there really wasn't much else I could have done - although it would have been nice if someone else on the tram had come to my aid - but the truth and the emotional reaction are two very different things.

I just hope you're all okay at the end of this. It's a bitch of a thing to go through, and I'm sorry it happened.

Maybe if they aren't ready to take action yet you could call VOC for them and get some information on what supports are availale and give them the information- that way they at least know what their options are and can make their decisions from there?

this just breaks my heart, the sadness that such a random act of violence can to so much harm and these vile people will never have any idea or care about how far the pain stretches that they have caused.
