Our desire as a people to "protect our children" is almost as out of control as our desire to "have it our way" (Please Burger King, don't sue me) and be right. We shove it down our kids throats all their lives that they need to learn to read, and God forbid they do, because then we have to censor it.

As a Christian and writer, I find this doubly offensive, because not only are they trying to say "You can't read this religious text" but then they're saying that "You can't read this religious text over here OR this art over here." It's ridiculous.

I hate to say it, but it really is primarily America that pulls this crap with books. Censoring Little Red Riding Hood because the girl is carrying a bottle of wine to her grandmother? How out of control can our power hungry parents get? In countries other than America, it's not only accepted, but COMMON for children to drink wine at family functions. All this proves is that American parents are terrified that they're going to end up raising a bunch of alcoholics which has far less to ( ... )
