A rant!

Aug 01, 2006 09:27

I've been intending to have this rant for a while now. I just haven't had the time or energy. It's something important to me though so I'm gonna have my rant one way or the other ;-) It shall be entitled......

agreed ... it really annoys me when people talk the whole way through a film (theres a thing called whispering if you need to) unfortunately the perpetrators tend to be kids...

last time we went to the cinema i heard the security say tot he staff not to sell tickets to any more kids as they were running riot...

Lucky you! We don't seem to have security at our cinema's and the staff certainly don't care what goes on! I'm so fed up of it!

Speaking as a parent I have to support the right to take my child into a film that I think she's mature enough to see. Of course, my little girl sat quietly through all 3 extended Lord of the Rings DVDs in one sitting so it wouldn't be a problem. May I suggest that you write a letter to the offending cinema. It is, after all, in their interests to encourage repeat custom and it is up to them to handle disruptive elements. They may not do anything but a strongly worded letter is usually respected and your complaint might actually be the one that counts!

Yes I also support the right to taking a child into the cinema to see the a film you think they are mature enough to see. Therefore I'm assuming you wouldn't take her to see a film that's too long for her attention span but that's you'd also use the corrrect attitude if she did start to play up and nip it in the but so to speak ;-)
At her age she did damn well to sit through LOTR and I applaude her but would you have made everyone else suffer if she'd been acting in the way I describe above???
That's the bit I object to, not children in cinema's.
I've sent a few complaint lettters/emails to a few different places and the cinema is top of my list ;-)

aye, my point really was "blame the parents". I don't want my daughter to be restricted from places because some selfish goit couldn't keep control of their spawn.

Good luck with the letters (BtW a letter copied to the head office often gets positive action ;-)

Im in complete agreement with you on this one. Here in the US some theaters have whats called 'Mothers day out' (or something to that effect) in which its ok to bring your crying or little baby, because everyone else there will have one too. They encourage you to take the child out of the theater if it makes ANY noise, and Ive seen a ticket sales person call in her manager and refuse to sell tickets to parents with children too young to sit through movies.

Doesnt mean some dont get through and ruin it for the rest of us though.

And - btw - not all bad experiences are with small baby's, I have the WORST experiences with rude teens who have zero courtesy for others within their voice range.

But that is another rant for another day.... :)

Oh yeah I know teens can be a nightmare but they can usually be avoided by going really early or really late, problem then is going early means you get the problems described above and going late means you get the lager louts etc etc etc

Decent folk just can't win these days!
