If anyone is interesting in archiving, This is a good software to download to do just that. It even saves comments

Well, insanejournal.com is basically LJ lite.... otherwise, blogspot :/ the problem I have with blogspot is that it isn't as easy to network to folks you like, and this is how I keep in contact with everyone.

Yeah, that's why I never really took to blogspot. I guess I will just hope the LJ doesn't shut down! That would be sad. I've made so many friends through this place.

Actually, later news seems to indicate they're just going to be hiring Russian programmers, who are cheaper. LJ does not appear to actually be a dead site walking.

They're in recession too, I don't think it means they'll shut down!

Gawker is outrageously alarmist. They actually only fired a dozen people and are just consolidating operations. Their San Fran office is handling business while the Moscow office is handling development, instead of both locations handling some of both.

Sadly, LJ will be around for the foreseeable future. :)
