I don't know if it's "illegal", but they taste horrible are too hard to bite through. [He sounds a little upset about this.]

There's a few plants that are edible, you just have to get through the top layer of snow. And once you get to a town, you can buy meat there. It tastes alright.

They taste pretty bad too. And trying to bite through them is like trying to bite pure scale and bone. If you try anyway, make sure you don't accidentally grab one that's someone's pet, or you'll get a lot of angry messages.

[It's sad how much of this is him talking through experience.]

They sell uncooked meat in the towns.

Have you efur gone hunting, Mr. purrson?

It is very diffurent from eating meat that some other purrson has caught. That is no fun at all and it is very not tigerish!

Hunting? Yeah. I've eaten snakes, rats, crocodiles, goats, rabbits, fish, birds, scorpions, spiders, squirrels, crabs, bats, frogs... most of them are delicious.

It helps to keep your stamina up with plenty of food when you're out in the wilderness.
