Blood and Rain
Rain! The fresh, earthy smell and gentle trickling noise are coming through the open bedroom window, and it's wonderful! I hope this will be a solution for the fires still burning, as well as Celeste's dry sore throat. Fire and sickness
Yesterday I woke to find that another fire had started in the Santa Cruz Mountains, maybe 15-20 miles from where Derek was supposed to be attending Outdoor Ed. Celeste was still miserable, but Derek seemed mostly better. I decided ît would be prudent to schedule a doctor's appointment for both of them, and was able to get them in at the San Carlos ( Read more... ) -
Good din din
Dinner at Tamarine with Nana, my parents and the Gardners was delicious, but I suspect it was ridiculously expensive. I think it was a little strange to choose such a pricey restaurant with Nana paying, but it was nice to go some place that was legitimately sort of fancy. Sickish
Both the kids were sickish today. Celeste with a sore throat and stomach ache, and Derek with just a stomach ache. So they lounged on the couch most of the day watching Phineas and Ferb, Moana and Jurassic Park, while Gene and I worked ( Read more... ) -

It's Still Burning
The air is bad today. "Unhealthy." Even though it's thick and hazy with smoke, we are very lucky that we're far from the fires. The dusty yellow air stings the eyes and throat, so we couldn't go outside. I felt bad for the kids, who had to sit in classrooms all day, where smoke seeped in and was trapped throughout the day. There is fire burning North of us, East of us, and South of us. West is the ocean. People are evacuated from Napa, Sonoma, Santa Rosa, and down south friends left their house when the fire was two blocks away ( Read more... ) -

What better way to spend your time in the bathroom than multitasking? I've wanted to journal more, but find that simple inconveniences get in the way much of the time. I don't like writing on my computer in the office. I find it's not conducive to creative thought. Getting my laptop out is annoying because it's bulky and hot and so slow. Writing in a physical journal can be interesting because I inevitably lose it, ( Read more... ) -
